Meadowhall Deconstruction

Dec 13, 2016

The invisible builders keeping the Christmas magic alive at Meadowhall

We are currently working on a £2.5million demo and dismantle package at the Meadowhall shopping centre on behalf of one of our repeat customers.

Along the our usual concrete demolition works we have also over 1km of steel service walkways and crossing bridges to dismantle and remove .

All of this dismantling is being done using cold cut (no spark) techniques due to the close proximity of the structures being removed to glass shop fronts and mall traders.

The video shows one of the larger service bridges being removed in one piece for further dismantle on the mall floor.

The team had spent the previous 2no shifts removing hand rails and checker plate decking to leave a skeletonised structure spanning the malls.

Using 2no electric chain hoists positioned at each end of the bridge. The bridge was supported via chains onto the hoist, the supporting walkway structure unbolted and the bridge then cut from its hangers and lowered to the mall floor for cut up and removal to skips.

The short video below shows the bridge as it is released from its hangers and lowered to the mall for final dismantle.

During these unprecedented times the safety of our staff and customers remains our top priority.

Keeping certain sites safe and carrying out necessary work is also important to our role within the industry we operate in.
We are therefore working within the current guidelines of the UK Government with regards to social distancing etc and have just a skeleton team of men on hand to carry out any necessary works.

We currently have just one person manning our office telephone and they are happy to take any enquires that you may have on 0115 967 9000.

We hope to be back up and running with a full team as soon as it is safe to do so.
